The Golden Gate Quartet has become an institution in the world of gospel music, and with 80 years of performing history it has become the great ambassador of Afro-American music throughout the world. The members of the quartet, two tenors, a baritone and a bass, have changed with the passing years, and the group has adopted innovative musical styles while remaining in the tradition of the Negro Spiritual, never losing the spirit in which the quartet was founded. The harmonic sound of the voices has remained intact and the essence of gospel music thoroughly maintained.
