Burning desire, passion, sin. Fire in the heart of lovers likened to flames in Hell. The Virgin tempted by a handsome young man, yet also the bearer to the world of divine redemption. This concert by the young vocal ensemble, Cantoría, aims to show how carnal desire and divine devotion come together in this repertoire, in which music and text combine influences from popular culture with courtly refinement and religious tradition – a theatre of virgins, cuckolds, saints and devils.
