J. S. Bach: Cantata BWV 110 Unser Mund sei voll Lachens / Cantata BWV 127 Herr Jesu Christ’, wahr’ Mensch und Gott / Cantata BWV 201 Geschwinde, ihr wirbelnden Winde
On his first visit to the Torroella Festival the renowned Dutch organist, harpsichordist and conductor Ton Koopman leads his Baroque orchestra in a concert dedicated to J. S. Bach. They will perform three cantatas, two religious works from 1725 and a secular cantata from 1729 which has as its text an adaptation of poetry from Ovid’s Metamorphoses – the musical dispute between Phoebus and Pan. The composer described the piece as a dramma per musica, due to the quasi-operatic treatment of the story, used by Bach to ridicule the musical practices that were in fashion at the time
