The routes of Slavery, 1444-1888. Africa, Portugal, Spain, Latin America.
The 39th Torroella de Montgrí Festival opens with The routes of Slavery, a musical journey which recalls more than four centuries of the slave trade. Jordi Savall recounts the story accompanied by 27 musicians and a reciter that hail from three continents – Europe, Africa and America. Together they retell the shameful story of deportation and captivity that was the lot of over 25 million Africans between the 15th and 19th centuries.
