Claudio Monteverdi: Adoramus te, SV 289 / Antonio Vivaldi: Violin Concerto in A Major, RV 768: Adagio / Violin Concerto in A Minor, RV 356 / Improvised Prelude (harpsichord) / Violin Concerto No. 4 in A Minor, Op. 4 “Stravaganza”, RV 357, transcription for harpsichord / Improvised Prelude (harpsichord) / Violin Concerto in D Minor, RV 813 / The Four Seasons, Op. 8
Vivaldi played a decisive role in Théotime Langlois de Swarte's passion for the violin. The young French violinist listened to Vivaldi all the time when he was a child and began to dream of one day recording the Venetian composer's violin concertos. That day finally arrived, and between May and July 2023, he performed a series of violin concertos by Vivaldi at the Théâtre-Auditorium in Poitiers that retraced his life, from his early years as a student to his last experiments in Vienna, searching for the extremes in his works. In his presentation at the Torroella de Montgrí Festival, Théotime Langlois de Swarte performs a large part of these works, including the famous Four Seasons concertos with the original version of the Violin Concerto in G Minor (“Summer”), which is preserved in the Library of Genoa and which presumably predates the set of the four concertos. It therefore presents small but significant differences with respect to the version that is usually performed.
