Joaquín Achúcarro confesses that he is a piano addict and we at the Torroella de Montgrí Festival confess that we have been Joaquín Achúcarro addicts since his debut at the Festival in the summer of 1990. In this 44^th edition, unfortunately, he will not be able to play Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor as planned, An accident forces Achúcarro to rest. He will be replaced by the Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki, who made his debut at the Torroella Festival in the 2015 edition. Lisiecki will be accompanied, as in his debut at the Torroella Festival 9 years ago, by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, conducted by Virginia Martínez, who will open the programme with the sardana for orchestra Empúries by Toldrà, followed by the suite of Pelléas et Mélisande, which Fauré wrote for the play of the same name by the Belgian symbolist Maurice Maeterlinck.

* We regret to announce that the pianist Joaquín Achúcarro has been forced to cancel his participation in the concert on August 11th with the Vallès Symphony Orchestra due to an accident that forces him to rest.
