On the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Cuban band Irakere, the legendary pianist Chucho Valdés and trumpeter Arturo Sandoval pay tribute to the mythical Afro-Cuban jazz group they played with, celebrating the regeneration of Cuban music they achieved with their fusion of jazz, rock, funk, popular Cuban rhythms and classical music. With a sonority produced by blending electronic and popular instruments, they developed Afro-Cuban jazz structures in dance music that have endured to the present day.
