Albert Cirera, sax | Marco Mezquida, piano | Massa Kamaguchi, double bass | Òscar Domènech, drums
After their first joint disc Els encants (2012), Albert Cirera, the saxophonist from Igualada resident in Lisbon, has again brought together the group he calls Tres tambors – pianist Marco Mezquida, double bassist Marko Lohikari and drummer Òscar Domenech. At the Jazz Festival l'Estartit, they will play Suite salada, 50 minutes of musical landscapes, melodies, interludes and improvisations brimming with energy, musical character and surprising innovation. "A thrilling sequence of emotions, images and memories. Balsam, a blue lake amid steep mountains," writes Francina Cirera, Albert’s sister, in the notes to the disc.
Suite salada was awarded the Enderrock Prize 2018 for the best jazz recording.
