Avishai Cohen, bass guitar and vocals | Abraham Rodriguez Jr., congas and vocals | Horacio El Negro Hernández, drums and percussion | Yosvany Terry, saxophone and shekere | Diego Urcola, trumpet | José Ángel, percussion and vocals | Virginia Alves, vocals
Nine years after his debut at the Jazz Festival l'Estartit, the extraordinary bass guitarist Avishai Cohen returns to the stage against the backdrop of the Medes Islands to present his latest project, Iroko, a magical and vibrant Afro-Caribbean rumba that will be hard to listen to without getting up and dancing. For this, the Israeli musician has put together an exceptional multicultural band consisting of the Cuban-American master percussionist Abraham Rodriguez Jr. on congas and vocals; the Cubans Horacio El Negro Hernández on drums and percussion, Yosvany Terry on saxophone and shekere, and José Ángel on percussion and vocals; the Argentinean Diego Urcola on trumpet and trombone, and the magnificent Madrid-born vocalist Virginia Alves. Iroko is an African tree with magical properties, like the music that will be played at this concert.
