According to the Jesuit Athanasius Kircher, a Baroque scientist and scholar, the stylus phantasticus "is the most free and unrestrained method of composing, it is bound to nothing, neither to any words nor to a melodic subject, it was instituted to display genius and to teach the hidden design of harmony and the ingenious composition of harmonic phrases and fugues". It was one of the leading currents of European instrumental music of the 17th century and is represented in collections such as the Partiturbuch Ludwig and the Rost Codex, within which we find works of undetermined authorship, identified as incerti or anonymous. This programme offers the opportunity to listen to music that has been unjustly forgotten due to the authorship attribution paradigm and deserves to be heard in the light of our time. The Ministers of Pastime are on a musical residence in Torroella as part of the EEEmerging+ programme, which also includes the Torroella Festival.
