With his 30th birthday yet to come, the Seville-born pianist Juan Pérez Floristán has become one of the leading young pianists of his generation. Since his first recital at the age of 11, he has built a solid repertoire that has enabled him to win major piano competitions, such as the 2015 Paloma O’Shea Santander Piano Competition, the 2015 Steinway-Berlin Piano Competition, the 2018 Kissinger Klavierolymp and, more recently, he won the first prize and the audience prize at the 16th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2021. In spite of his youth and acclaim, Juan Pérez Floristán is an atypical pianist for whom the piano is an important part of his life but not the only part. Restless and inquisitive, he also performs in theatre, plays the drums, writes film scripts, plays videogames and prefers playing music with friends and spending time with his family than travelling on interminable tours playing the piano.
