Boccherini: Fragment from Symphony No. 6 in D minor "La casa del Diavolo", G. 506: III. Finale Andante sostenuto & Allegro con moto
This programme from the Académie d'Ambronay EEEmerging+ explores a fascinating period in the history of music, where the rationality of the Enlightenment and the fire of the first stirrings of Romanticism highlight a musical discourse undergoing radical mutation. The works of Mozart, Boccherini and Haydn, written over two decades, mark the emergence of a revolutionary thought, initially manifested in the use of instruments (virtuosity, expressiveness, organological innovation) and later in formal and philosophical aspects (the artist's personality bursts onto the scene without giving free rein to the expression of feelings). The composers question and revise musical form to reflect more closely their artistic and social aspirations at a time marked by the birth of democracy. The concern for formal balance structures the freely expressed feelings, allowing the composers to explore new orchestral paths and revolutionise instrumental writing.
