Júlia Colom was born in Majorca and discovered jazz at the age of 14. She began singing popular songs from the Balearic Islands, Catalonia and other Mediterranean regions with the guitarist Josep Munar, and now presents a new project with the guitarist Joan Arto, the double-bassist Jordi Gaspar and Jeroni Sureda on drums. In this Fringe concert she will sing as part of a trio. Building on her training in the Taller de Músics, Colom’s music presents a Mediterranean sound picture that moves between jazz tradition and the beat of pop.
