About this event

A contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann was considered the most important German composer of his time. Neither Bach nor Handel, both of whom were on friendly terms with the Hamburg composer, could compete with his popularity. But after his death, Telemann’s star began to fade, and at present his works are only rarely performed. The renowned Academy of Ancient Music has revived two of Telemann’s works for this concert which, also including music by his friend Bach, marks the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death.
