20th century music gave percussion instruments the attention they had previously been denied. The first work specifically composed for percussion did not appear until 1920, but since then the genre has gradually gained recognition throughout the world. In her two concerts at the Fringe Festival Torroella-L'Estartit, the Japanese percussionist Narae Kubo will explore the wide range of possibilities available in contemporary works for percussion. In Tamazcal, by the Mexican composer Javier Álvarez, she will add electronic music to the spectrum.
