The young Russian-Lithuanian pianist, Lukas Geniušas, is one of the most promising musicians of the new generation. He won second prize in the 2010 Chopin Competition in Warsaw and was also second prize in the Tchaikovsky Competition of 2015. Gifted with exceptional technique, his extensive repertoire ranges from baroque composers to contemporary music. For his first visit to the Torroella de Montgrí Festival, he will perform two masterworks of the piano repertoire – Mozart’s concerto no. 20 and Beethoven’s fifth (the “Emperor”). Geniušas will be accompanied by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès under their principal conductor, Rubén Gimeno.
