This concert brings us love songs and dances from the 17th. century, festive secular music from Spain and scores with texts in Spanish which have come to light in European collections. Some of these pieces will have their first ever performance today while others are musical reconstructions of some of the best-known dances of the period. It is music about the madness of love, alternating light, shadow and moments of grief, with settings of texts by Quevedo, Cervantes, Calderón de la Barca and others – the pure essence of the Baroque in the voice of the renowned soprano Raquel Andueza.
