About this event

Twenty years after their first visit, the Gabrieli Consort return to the Torroella Festival with an a cappella programme covering five centuries of music in praise of the Virgin Mary. They will sing two of the great English Marian antiphons of the 16th. century – Thomas Tallis’ Gaude Gloriosa Dei Mater and Vox patris caelestis by William Mundy. In addition to these Renaissance works, the consort will perform Marian hymns by British composers of the 20th. and 21st. centuries – Herbert Howells, Kenneth Leighton and Matthew Martin.
