Italian music was everywhere in England in the 18th century. It formed the greater part of concert programmes and dominated public taste. Italian composers and singers found favourable conditions in which they made good use of their talents and many who were not in fact Italian composed as if they were. This concert by the British ensemble The King's Consort explores the musical connection between England and Italy during the baroque period.
