L. van Beethoven: Sonata no. 30 in E major, Op.109 / Sonata no. 14 in C sharp minor, Op.27/2 / Sonata no. 13 in E flat major, Op. 27/1 / Sonata no. 32 in C minor, Op. 111
The piano is a central element in Beethoven’s life and work, as it was as a pianist that he established his career as a performer and improviser. His 32 sonatas for the instrument constitute one of the high points of musical history, and there have been more complete recordings than for any other series of works. The British pianist, Paul Lewis, has recorded them all for Harmonia Mundi and in Torroella will give us a selection of four of the sonatas.
