The Cor Cererols was created in 2018 by a group of six former pupils at the Escolania de Montserrat who wanted to continue making music. Their repertoire ranges from the 15th century to the present day, with special emphasis on early music. At the Torroella de Montgrí Fringe Festival, they will present a programme that sets to music the story of the fall, punishment and redemption of Nicolas Gombert (c. 1495 - c. 1560), a Flemish musician who was condemned to the galleys at the height of his career for having abused a child. Years later, the composer was pardoned by the King and rehabilitated thanks to his music. In addition to works by Gombert, the concert programme includes a selection of pieces by a number of composers from the same period.
