The talent of the Russian soprano, Julia Lezhneva, was discovered by Marc Minkowski, and in spite of her youth, she has an extensive and varied repertoire which ranges from baroque and bel canto to works of the Romantic period and contemporary compositions. She has recently signed an exclusive contract with Decca, and in Torroella she will perform Romantic works by Schubert and Schumann, a selection of ariettas by Bellini and Rossini’s La regata veneciana – a cycle of three songs published in 1835. All these works are central to the vocal repertoire, and greatly influenced the worlds of lieder and Italian arias.
