Ensemble Organum | Marcel Pérès, director
Corsican songs. Franciscan manuscripts of the 17th-18th centuries
The Ensemble Organum, resident choir at Moissac Abbey, France, was founded in 1982 by its director Marcel Perès. The group specialises in medieval vocal music, from the earliest known religious repertoire, such as Carolingian chant, to works from the 18th century that follow medieval tradition. One of the features of the ensemble is faithful reproduction of the vocal style of the period. The style of their singing today is the result of thorough research at the Fondation Royaumont by musicologists and historians from around the world.
