Anne Sofie von Otter will sing a varied repertoire of Nordic works of the Romantic period and French songs from the beginning of the 20th century. The programme will include works by Grieg (singing of spring flowers in his most mystic vein), and songs by Sibelius and the excellent Swedish composer Lindbald. Von Otter will also sing Debussy’s Trois Chansons de Bilitis, from a collection of erotic poetry written by Pierre Louÿs in 1894. The wide-ranging musical interests of today’s performers will be reflected by inclusion in the programme of works by Paul McCartney and cellist Henryson himself.
