It has been said that instrumental music seeks out the human voice, and the human voice, in poetry, seeks out music. The search for perfect unity between text and poetry is the quest that has most characterised Western art ever since the musical experiments of the Bardi Camerata at the end of the 16th century. In this recital by María Bayo, we will be taken on a journey in quest of unity between text and music, passing through works by Mozart and Italian songs by Schubert, until we arrive at Mompou's magnificent song cycle, Combat del somni, composed between 1942 and 1950 on texts by Josep Janés. Sixty years on, Combat remains one of the most loved of all Catalan song cycles.
