Éric Le Sage, piano
L.V. Beethoven: Bagatelles, op. 126 / R. Schumann: Davidsbündlertänze, op. 6 / A. Guinovart: Premiere work for piano four hands (tribute to Maria Curcio) * / R. Schumann: Carnival, op. 9
In 2010 we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Robert Schumann, and although Carnaval is not the most important work in the composer's output for the piano, it soon gained great popularity in the concert hall, thanks in great part to Franz Liszt, who was the first pianist to perform it in its entirety. One of the younger generation artists who have taken a special interest in Schumann's music is the French pianist Eric Le Sage, who is recording his entire works for the piano. Le Sage is well known in Torroella de Montgrí, as he was a student on Maria Curcio's courses in the 1980s. He will join another ex-student, the Catalan, Albert Guinovart, in the first performance of a work the latter has composed for piano duet as a tribute to Curcio, the theorist and former teacher of these two now famous artists.
