D. Gonzàlez De La Rubia: * Barcelona Symphony / J. Brahms: Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra, op. 102 /  P. Txaikovski: Symphony no. 5, op. 64

Tchaikovsky conducted the first performance of his Fifth Symphony in Saint Petersburg in 1888, and in Cologne the previous year, Brahms had unveiled what was to be his last concertante work – the Double Concerto for violin and cello. These two works will share the programme today with the first performance of Domènec de la Rubia's Simfonia Barcelona. This will be the first concert at the Festival by the Capuçon brothers, this year's Special Guest Artists.
